Block websites in Internet Explorer - how it works
Locking certain websites in Internet Explorer is particularly helpful if children also use the PC. In this practical tip, we'll show you how.
Block websites in IE - so make the browser safe
Unfortunately, you cannot block websites in Internet Explorer directly via the browser settings. However, it is not at all difficult to exclude websites with unwanted content from surfing. You only have to make an entry in the "hosts" file.
- Open the "hosts" file in the editor. You can find the file in "C: \ WINDOWS \ system32 \ drivers \ etc \". Right-click on the file> "Open with" and select the editor.
- Enter the websites you want to block at the end of the file. Always start with 127.0.0.1, then a space and then the URL of the website. We recommend making an entry with "www" and once without for each website. You should use a new line for each entry.
- If you save the file, the specified websites are blocked immediately.
