Use WhatsApp abroad - you should know that
If you want to use WhatsApp abroad, you usually need data roaming. You can find out what costs you expect for this and how to activate roaming on your mobile device in this practical tip.
WhatsApp abroad via roaming
WhatsApp only works over the internet. So if you want to use WhatsApp abroad, you should take care of a suitable international mobile tariff.
- To be able to use WhatsApp abroad, you need to activate roaming on your Android or Apple device.
- In the meantime, the standard roaming data tariffs of the large mobile network operators are no longer major cost traps.
- For example, o2 offers 50 MB daily volume for 1.99 euros per day. As soon as this volume of data is used up, the speed is reduced.
- If you would like to use the internet abroad with o2 unlimited, then you pay a maximum of 59.50 euros per month. The billing is based on consumption. 0.2380 euros is charged for 1 MB.
- Vodafone or Telekom also offer similar roaming tariffs. If in doubt, simply ask your provider.
- Of course, you can also use WhatsApp abroad via a WiFi connection. If WiFi is available wherever you are, you can usually save yourself the data tariff.
