WhatsApp: Tag users - how it works
If you want to explicitly address a person in a WhatsApp chat, you can tag the corresponding user. We'll show you how it's done.
Tag users on WhatsApp
Note: The function is currently only available in the WhatsApp Beta. It will probably take a few weeks until the new feature arrives in all WhatsApp versions.
- To tag a person, open the group chat you want and type an "@". This procedure is already known from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- After the @ sign follows the name of the contact. You can either type it yourself or simply select it from the list that appears.
- The user is now tagged within your message and highlighted in blue text. He will then receive a separate notification. The name that the person gave himself on WhatsApp appears in the chat. So embarrassing nicknames are not adopted.
