Windows 7: server is busy - what to do?
If the message "Server is busy" appears under Windows 7, a program is faulty or malware is blocking your system. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Step 1: find the culprit
With the message "Server is busy", the message "This operation could not be performed because the other application is running. Click" Switch to "to switch to the other application and correct the problem."
- Try to cause the error, but do not click it away.
- Then start the Task Manager and look for programs that are currently consuming an unusually large amount of memory.
- Here is a possible way to look for the problem. However, continue with the next step for now.
Step 2: tidy up auto start
If there are too many programs in the autostart, the system can be overloaded. Programs from Avira in particular are known for these error messages. Alternatively, you can clean up your autostart with the CCleaner.
- Simultaneously press the [Windows] + [R] keys so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "msconfig" here and click the "OK" button. The system configuration then opens.
- Go to the "Startup" tab above and sort the list by "Manufacturer".
- Now deactivate all processes that you know are not required. Warning: Under no circumstances should you deactivate a "Microsoft" process.
- Then click the "OK" button and restart your computer.
- If the error persists, the culprit is either still in the autostart or the cause is somewhere else. Then move on to the next step.
Step 3: check PC for malware
- A virus can also be responsible for the high workload. Therefore, carry out a complete scan with your anti-virus software.
- In addition, perform a check with the free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware virus scanner. Optionally, you can also use the Spyware Terminator.
