Windows 7: Limit access time
If you do not want your children to be at the PC all the time, you can limit access to Windows 7. We'll explain exactly how that works.
Limit the use of Windows 7 with a schedule
With the youth protection function under Windows 7, access can be regulated: You can create a schedule with different rules and thus determine when your children can log in and when Windows should refuse to use it.
- To do this, start the Control Panel and select the item [Protection of minors] in the category [User accounts and protection of minors].
- A new window is opening up. Click here on your child's user profile. If you have not yet set up an account, you can do so using the entry [Create new user account]. You can find detailed instructions here.
- In the "Protection of minors" area, click on the entry [Force on settings]. Then select the item [Time limits] to set the access times.
- You can now create your own schedule in the new window. Your child can only use the computer during the hours marked with a white box. Click on the respective boxes to prohibit access during this period. Once everything is set, you only have to confirm the settings by clicking on [OK].
- Tip: Secure your own account with a password so that your little ones cannot easily bypass the lock.

There is no more room for maneuver: you can adjust your personal schedule individually for each day of the week. For example, you can give your children a little more time on the computer at the weekend.
