Windows 8.1: Change view in Explorer
Press the "Windows" and "E" keys simultaneously so that the Explorer opens. Go to the View tab at the top, you'll see the following setting options:
- Navigation area: Here you can configure the left navigation bar. Among other things, you can completely show and hide the favorites and libraries or the entire area.
- Preview window: On the right you will find two buttons with which you can show or hide the detail view or the preview window on the right. For example, if you select a file with the mouse, you will receive further information on the right.
- Layout: You can use the layout area to select the format for the folders and files. From large symbols to a detailed list, everything is included.
- Current view: Here you can sort or group the folders and files according to certain criteria such as name, size and type.
- Show / hide: This point hides three really helpful functions. You can use the "Element checkboxes" to mark several files at the same time. The "file name extensions" also show the file extensions of the files. Hidden files are shown via "Hidden elements".
- Options: Here you will find numerous other settings. You can change even the smallest details here.
