Windows 8.1: Show several apps side by side
In Windows 8.1, you can now not only display two, but even up to four apps at the same time. We'll show you how it's done.
Windows 8.1: Show several apps side by side
The parallel display of two apps was already supported under Windows 8. Since Windows 8.1, this has also been possible with four apps, but you need a monitor with a resolution of at least 1, 920 x 1200 pixels. This means that only two apps can still be displayed on laptops and tablets.
- First open any two apps and go to one of them.
- Move the mouse to the top left corner of the screen. If you then move the mouse vertically downwards, a bar opens on the left with all open apps (see picture).
- Click on the second app there and drag it to the left or right third of the screen. When you let go, the two apps are arranged side by side.
- In the app you are currently working, you can see in the bar that separates the two apps. There is a dash in the middle of the side of the selected app. The mouse can be used in an app at any time. For example, you can scroll in parallel in apps without clicking on them.
- You can now repeat the process described above for up to two other apps.
