Windows 8: Hide individual apps from search
In the redesigned search in Windows 8, you can also set apps as the search target. In order not to show all apps there, you can switch off individual or rarely used apps in the configuration. The search function directly within the respective app remains unaffected.
Adjust apps search in PC settings
- To adjust, position the mouse pointer in the lower right corner of the screen to open the Charm bar.
- Click on "Settings" and then on "Change PC settings".
- Then select the "Search" category and move the associated controls to the "Off" position for all apps that are rarely or not required, such as "Travel", "Games" or "Store". In the same dialog you can also "delete history".
