Windows 8: Fix update error 80073712
For Windows 8 there are two different methods to fix error 80073712.
- Method 1: Use the fix-it tool that Microsoft provides for the error. To do this, click on this link and execute the Fix it. Then restart the PC and test whether the problem has been resolved.
- Method 2: Press the Windows key and type "Command Prompt". Right click on the search result and select "Run as administrator". Enter "DISM.exe / Online / Cleanup-image / Scanhealth" and "DISM.exe / Online / Cleanup-image / Restorehealth" one after the other and confirm each with Enter. Restart your PC and run the update again.
Windows Update: Fix error 80073712 on Windows 7
There are also two methods available for Windows 7.
- Method 1: Download and run the System Update Readiness Tool for your version of Windows. Restart your PC and try the update again.
- Method 2: Open the start menu and enter "cmd" in the search field. Right click on "cmd.exe" and select "Run as administrator". Enter "Sfc / scannow" in the prompt and confirm with Enter. When the process is complete, restart Windows and run the update.
