Windows Vista: You really need that much RAM
- Under Windows Vista Home Basic you need at least 512 MB of RAM.
- A minimum RAM of 1 GB is recommended for all other versions (Home Premium, Business, Enterprise and Ultimate).
Windows 7: So much RAM you need
- For the 32-bit version of Windows 7 you need at least 1 GB of RAM.
- The 64-bit version, on the other hand, needs a little more: 2 GB are due here.
Windows 8: So much RAM you need
- Windows 8 and 8.1 are strongly oriented towards the predecessor Windows 7. For the 32-bit variant, 1 GB of RAM is required.
- The 64-bit version requires 2 GB of RAM.

- Note that you can use a maximum of 4 GB of RAM with a 32-bit operating system.
- For intensive use, for example through games or graphics programs, higher RAM from 4 GB is recommended. This ensures the speed of the PC.
