This guide shows you how to create an archive with several parts using WinRar.
Create archive with several parts at WinRar
The WinRar pack software is available for free download from CHIP Online. An archive with several parts can be created relatively easily with WinRar:
- To do this, mark all files that you want to put in the archive and select the "Add to archive" option with the right mouse button.
- In the "General" tab you will find the item "Volume size". Here you can specify the size of the individual parts from various presets, e.g. 5, 100 or 700 MB.
- Alternatively, enter the desired size in the field and select from the dropdown menu whether it is byte, KByte, MByte or GByte.
- Then enter a name for the archive and set a password if necessary. Finally confirm by clicking on "OK". The archive is automatically created in several parts in the size you specified.
You can also create archives with extensive configurations using other packing tools. In the next practical tip, we will introduce you to the three best WinRar alternatives.
