Xbox 360: save games in the cloud - how it works
With the Microsoft Xbox Cloud, you can save Xbox 360 game saves online. This allows you to continue playing on any other Xbox 360 that is connected to your account - whether on a second console or with friends. In this article, we show you how to set up cloud storage.
Xbox 360 game saves in the cloud
To save your Xbox 360 saves in Microsoft's cloud, you must meet the following requirements.
- You must be a member of Xbox Live Gold.
- Your Xbox 360 must be connected to the Internet and Xbox Live.
- You need 514 MB of local hard disk space as a buffer for your saves.
1. Activate Xbox Cloud Storage
To save your saves in the cloud, you need to sync your console - preferably the one where you saved most of your saves.
- Using the controller, navigate to "Settings" in the main menu dashboard and select "System".
- Go to "Storage" and then "Games saved in the cloud".
- Select "Enable cloud storage."
2. Save and move Xbox 360 game saves to the cloud
With new games you will automatically be asked for the desired storage location, you can now enter the cloud as the storage location. Here's how you can move existing saves to the cloud:
- Launch the console and sign in with your Xbox Live profile.
- Go to Settings, then choose System.
- Go to "Storage".
- Select the storage device that contains the saved game that you want to move to the cloud - for example, the local hard drive.
- Select "Games" and then select the appropriate game for the game.
- Select the game status and go to "Move".
- Select "Games saved in the cloud". Your save has now been moved to the cloud.
3. Access cloud storage from another Xbox 360
When you have saved all the data in the Microsoft Cloud, you can access your scores from other consoles.
- Sign in with the same Xbox Live profile that you used to set up your cloud.
- Activate "Games saved in the cloud" (see paragraph 1: Activate "Games saved in the cloud" above).
- It may take some time before the buffer file is created.
- Now start a game that you have saved in the cloud.
- Select "Games saved in the cloud" as the storage device when prompted.
