Adobe Illustrator: replace color - how it works
With Adobe Illustrator you can create sophisticated vector graphics. This practical tip shows how you can replace the color of an object.
Adjust color of objects in Adobe Illustrator
You can easily adjust the color of an element of your vector graphic:
- Select the direct selection tool in the left bar and click on the object you want to recolor. This is marked with a frame.
- On the right side of the program window you will find the color palette at the top. Click on it to show the color spectrum.
- With the pipette you can now click on a suitable color and color your object.
Colors replace in Illustrator's swatches
If you don't want to replace the color of a graphic, but want to change the arrangement of your swatches in Illustrator, proceed as follows:
- Click on the "Color swatches" button on the right to display the preset colors. Here you will find ready-made collections - for web colors or grayscale, for example.
- You can also replace colors in this library. To remove a color from the library, click on it and then move the mouse to the small trash can icon at the bottom right.
- You can add new presets to your color library using the "Swatch libraries" button at the bottom left.
