Use Android and Windows in parallel - a guide
If you want to use Android and Windows in parallel on one computer, this can be done in several ways. We present two options.
Genymotion: Use Android and Windows in parallel
- The fastest and easiest way to do this is via an emulator like Genymotion. This allows you to start Android as software and thus use it in parallel with Windows.
- Download the software and click through the installation. You can then choose between 20 different Android smartphones.
- Now you can operate the selected smartphone with the mouse. Playing Android games is also possible smoothly. You can currently choose between Android 5.1 and older versions.
- Note: Genymotion is available free of charge, but you must first set up an account with the manufacturer. The paid additional options are not relevant for normal users.
Android-x86: Use Windows and Android in parallel
Alternatively, you can install Android as an operating system on your computer. This works with the adapted version Android-x86. To switch between Windows and Android, you always have to restart the computer.
- Download: Download Android-x86 and get an ISO file. Burn the file onto a CD using software such as CDBurnerXP or use an empty USB stick and a tool such as ISO to USB.
- Partition: To install Android parallel to Windows, you need an empty partition. As a rule, this must be created. You should use a size of at least 3 GB. Here you will find suitable instructions.
Instructions: Install Android-x86 parallel to Windows
- Insert the CD into the computer and restart it. If you have copied Android-x86 to a USB stick, insert it into a free slot.
- Now the installation of Android-x86 should start instead of Windows. If not, change the boot order.
- If Android-x86 has now started, select the option "Installation" below.
- Select the "Create / Modify partitions" item, and then "New" and "Primary".
- Activate the "Bootable" option, select "Write" and then type "yes".
- Now select the previously created partition and, if necessary, format it with the "ext3" file system.
- If you confirm all further inquiries with "Yes", Android-x86 will be installed.
- You can then start and set up Android. Windows and Android are now installed in parallel.
