Use autotext sensibly in Word
If you would like to use a certain text module such as your address more often in Word, you can do this using the autotext function. We'll show you how to create and insert Auotext yourself later.
Create your own autotext in Word 2013, 2010, 2007 and 2003
- Start Word and use the mouse to mark any sentence block that you want to use later as autotext. This can be a few words or entire pages with text, images and graphics.
- Now click on the "Insert" tab in the menu bar at the top. You will now find the "AutoText" function under "Quick blocks". In Word 2003 you will find the function in the "Insert" menu directly under the name "AutoText".
- Here you can see all pre-made auto texts as a preview, in which mostly only your name is shown. Now click on the "Save selection in AutoText catalog" button below.
- Give the whole thing a meaningful name and, if desired, a short description.
- Then click on the "OK" button to save the autotext.
Tips: Use autotext sensibly
- If you always use a font and font size, you should also save the text module in it, since the formatting is also saved. Only when you save the document will the autotext be used as a template.
- Autotext is especially suitable for long, cumbersome words that you don't want to type again and again. You can also insert address lines or other frequently used text modules in a document as autotext to make your work easier.
