AVG: Perform offline update
Even if your computer with AVG as an antivirus program is not connected to the Internet, a virus update is important. With an offline update, you continue to ward off the dangers posed by USB sticks and other removable media. This practical tip shows you how to use the function with the AVG antivirus.
AVG: Find and import offline update
- AVG provides the current virus definitions in its download area. If you scroll down on the page, you will find the files to download.
- Save the virus definition on your PC in an empty folder, for example named "AVG Update".
- Then open the AVG Antivirus interface.
- The "Options" button is located at the top right.
- Select the item "Update from directory ...".
- Now navigate to the folder in which you have saved the virus definition.
- After confirming the selection with "OK", AVG analyzes the update and applies it.
- AVG confirms the operation with the message "Update carried out successfully". Now your computer is optimally protected again.
