AVG update failed - this may be the reason
If AVG reports the error "Update failed", no updates could be installed. We will show you how to solve the problem and bring AVG up to date again.
AVG: Updates are not installed - possible causes
- In most cases it is just a temporary problem. Many users update a large new version or there is another server problem, but unfortunately only one thing helps: Wait.
- The update process can also be blocked by a firewall. Briefly deactivate the Windows firewall and all other installed firewalls.
- Alternatively, you can install the virus definitions manually. To do this, download the approximately 100 MB file from the AVG website.
- If the instructions in the following paragraph do not help you either, you still have to repair the software. In the following instructions, select the repair instead of the uninstallation.
AVG: Update failed - this is how to fix the problem
- Double-click the AVG icon at the bottom of the taskbar to open the software.
- Select the "Options" at the top right and then the "Advanced Settings" category.
- Click here on the item "Update" and on the bottom left on "Standard".
- Go to the Manage category on the left and select the "Delete temporary update files" option.
- Close the window with the "OK" button and carry out the update again.
