Calibrate the projector - how it works
If you would like to display brightness, sharpness etc. with your projector, you have to recalibrate the device at every location. In this practical tip we will show you how
Calibrate the projector with the test pattern - how it works
- In order to calibrate a projector, you need a suitable test pattern. You can see which settings need to be optimized from the display of the test pattern.
- At CHIP you will find the Burosch First Check test picture and the Full HD test picture. Open both test images on the respective pages and save them by right-clicking on your computer. We recommend using both test images for the following instructions.
Instructions: calibrate the projector yourself
Have the projector display one of the test images and open the menu. Go through the individual steps and optimize the respective values of the settings.
- Overscan: First, it is checked whether the projector shows the image area correctly and completely. If you see all the arrowheads on the outside of the test field, the image is correctly aligned.
- Brightness: You see several shades of black on a graduated scale. Here you have to be able to differentiate between all levels without any problems.
- Contrast: Do the same with the scale of the slightly lighter shades of gray. Again, you should be able to see every single step.
- Color: Natural colors make a big difference. Use the ladies in the middle to check that the color setting is correct. With the colored stairs in red, green and blue, the individual steps must also be recognizable.
- Sharpness: The crosshairs and the white areas in the crosshairs must be displayed clearly and must not blur.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to calculate the correct distance for your projector.
