Search backwards via Google images
Sometimes you want to google pictures to find out where they come from. We explain how this works in the following.
- First, open Google Image Search.
- To the right of the search line, click on the small camera symbol (see picture).
- There you select the blue underlined item "Upload picture".
- Now click on the "Select file" button, you can mark the image to be searched and click on the "Open" button.
- Now your picture will be uploaded and searched. Now select the correct image from the search results. This will take you to the website where the picture is located. The origin is therefore clear.
Google Chrome: Search images with the browser
If you use the Google Chrome browser, you can find images in the browser directly by reverse search.
- To do this, right-click on an image and select the option "Search for this image in Google".
- If the image is on your computer, you do not have to upload it to Google. Find the image on your computer, right-click on it and select "Google Chrome" under "Open with".
- The image is then opened in Chrome and can be used again by right-clicking to search for images.
Alternative to Google: TinEye
If you get stuck via Google, you can alternatively use the TinEye search engine, which specializes in images. In addition to the image upload, you can also enter image URLs for research here.
