Battlefield 4 DirectX Error - What to Do?
If a DirectX error is displayed when starting or installing Battlefield 4, this can have several reasons. We'll show you how to fix it.
Battlefield 4: Fix DirectX Error
The most common cause is an incorrect value within a single file.
- Download the DirectX End-User Runtimes from Microsoft.
- If you start the file, you will be asked in which folder you want to replace the files. To do this, select the following path: "C: \ Program Files \ Origin Games \ Battlefield 4 \ Installer \ directx \ redist". At least the beginning of the path may be different for you.
- Once the files have been transferred, open the folder "C \ Users \ XXX \ Documents \ Battlefield 4 \ settings". For "XXX" you have to enter your own username.
- Right-click on "PROFSAVE_profile" and open it with the "Editor".
- You will find the entry "GstRender.OverallGraphicsQuality" in the twentieth line. Change the set value from 0 to 1.
- Save your changes using "Ctrl" + "S", for example, and close the window again. Battlefield should start after restarting Origin.
If that doesn't work, the virtual memory may be too small. You can find out how to enlarge it in this practical tip. We have provided more solutions to Direct X problems here.
