Print protected PDF - how it works
Some PDF files are protected so that they cannot be printed out. We will show you which trick you can use to print out any protected PDF file.
Open and print protected PDFs via the web app
The free web app "FreeMyPDF" can open and print even encrypted PDF files.
- Start "FreeMyPDF" by calling the link.
- Click on "Add file" and select the protected PDF document that you want to print out on your PC.
- Finally, click the "Do it!" Button to open it.
- Once the protected file has been uploaded, select a location on your PC. "MyFreePDF" reliably converts your protected file into an unprotected PDF file.
- To print out the PDF file, open the file you saved and select the "Print ..." option under the "File" tab.
Take screenshots of protected PDF files
If it is only a PDF document with very few pages, you can alternatively take a screenshot with the [Print] button. Then paste the screenshot into Paint using [Ctrl] + [V]. Finally, print it out by clicking on "File" and "Print ...".
Windows 7 and Google Chrome version 30.0.1599.101m were used for this practical tip. Read here how to remove write protection from a protected PDF document.
