This practical tip shows you how to activate the "Confirmation in two steps" feature for your Google account and thus additionally protect your account from unwanted tampering.

First navigate to the "Security" menu and select "Two-step verification".
Start the setup.
Now enter your password for verification.
Now you can see all logged in devices. Continue with "Try Now".
Now press "Yes" on one of your other devices to confirm the process.
Then enter your phone number and choose whether you want to receive the code via SMS or phone call.
Enter the transmitted code and press "Next".
The last thing to do is to finish the setup with "Activate".
Your two-step verification option is now enabled for your account. You can deactivate this again in the settings.
When you sign in with your Google account, you usually enter your username and password. With the "Confirmation in two steps" you will also receive a code via SMS on your mobile phone, which you must enter during the login process.
- Log into your Google account on your smartphone or desktop and go to the account settings.
- Then select the "Security" menu.
- Now press "Confirmation in two steps" and confirm it with "Start now".
- Now you have to confirm your identity by entering your password.
- In the next window you can see your devices that are logged in with the same account. The requests are sent to the devices listed.
- If your device or smartphone is not listed, press "Can't see your device?".
- Continue with "Try now" and you will also be sent a test as a test to your devices, on which you must confirm the process with "Yes".
- The next step is to enter your phone number so that the codes can be transmitted. You can choose between SMS and phone call.
- Optionally, you can also press "Use other backup options" and choose other methods.
- You can complete the setup process by entering the code. Your account is now additionally protected.
