If you can't connect to the Google Play Store, there can be several reasons. We have put together several solutions for you.
No connection to Google Play: is it Vodafone?
Since the end of December 2014, user reports about connection problems to the Google Play Store have been piling up. Apparently, users of Vodafone networks (e.g. also Arcor) and an Easybox as a router have more problems opening the Google Play Store. While access via the mobile network works, users cannot access the store via WLAN. The following measures have already helped:
- Restart the router with a reset. Alternatively, you can briefly take the router off the mains.
- Reset your router to the factory settings or deactivate the "Network notifications". To do this, click on the menu button in the overview on the left, select the "Advanced" function and remove the tick from "Network notification".
Google Play Store doesn't work: More solutions to the problem
- As a rule, it is sufficient to clear the cache of the Play Store app and the Google Play services. To empty it, you have to open the Android settings and then switch to the "Apps" menu item. Now select "All" and look for the Google Play Store. Finally, tap the "Clear cache" button.
- If you still get "No connection", delete the data from the Play Store, which resets the app to a certain extent. You can find this option under the Android settings "Apps" and "All" by confirming "Delete data".
- However, you also have the option of uninstalling all Play Store updates, as an update may confuse the store. Search for "Google Play Store" in the app settings and confirm the "Uninstall updates" button.
- If you have accidentally deactivated the download manager, the Google Play Store will no longer work. You can reactivate it by selecting the download manager under "Android Settings"> "Apps"> "All" and tapping the "Activate" button. If you only see "Deactivate", the manager is already activated.
- First, remove your Google account in the Android settings under "Google"> "Remove account". Select the account with which you use the Play Store. Once you have done this, restart your Android device and add your Google account again via the Android settings in the menu items "Accounts", "Add account" and "Google".
- Check via Settings> Application Manager whether the "Google Services Framework" (or "Google Services Framework") may be deactivated on your Android and restart it if necessary. According to reports from CHIP users (see the comments below), this trick usually restores the Play Store connection.
- If none of the solutions worked, you only have the way out to reset your smartphone to the factory settings. All data on your device will be lost if you do not create a backup beforehand. To take advantage of this option, go to "Backup & reset" in the Android settings. There, select the option "Factory data reset" and confirm your decision with "Reset phone".
If you deleted the Play Store application on your smartphone or tablet, you should restore the Google Play Store.
