Reinstall GTA 5 - how it works
If you experience problems with GTA 5 or you have to set up your computer again, you can then reinstall the game without hesitation. We show you how to do this in this article.
Step 1: completely uninstall GTA V.
- Before you completely uninstall GTA 5, you should make a backup copy of the game. If you bought and installed the game on Steam, the save status is linked to your Steam account. In this case, you do not have to create a backup yourself.
- If you do not play GTA 5 on Steam, you have to be active yourself. You can find detailed instructions on how to save your save status externally in another article.
- After the backup, you can start uninstalling GTA V. You can find out exactly how in the next article.
Step 2: reinstall GTA 5
As soon as you have uninstalled GTA V, restart your computer. Then you can start with the new installation.
- To do this, install GTA V as usual by inserting the CDs one after the other or downloading the game and then installing it.
- Follow the installation instructions.
- You can use your activation code, which you had to enter during the first installation, again. Make sure that you have an active internet connection during the installation.
