Mobile phone: Internet only Edge - what to do?
If only internet with edge reception is suddenly available on the cell phone, the slow connection quickly becomes annoying. In this article we show what the internet problems can be and how you can fix them.
Internet reception only Edge: the most common causes
- You may have deactivated 3G or LTE on your mobile phone. How to change the settings can be read in the next paragraphs.
- If you are in rural areas or in buildings away from windows, reception may be restricted. If possible, test reception with another cell phone that is running on the same network and in a different location. You can test whether 3G or LTE is available at your location here.

Edge only: Internet options on Android
You can access the Internet options differently depending on your cell phone. How to find the network settings on most smartphones:
- From the main menu, tap Settings> Wireless & Networks and choose Mobile Networks.
- Under Network mode, activate the "LTE / WCDMA / GSM" option.
Edge only: Internet options on iPhone
- Go to Settings by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen.
- Select "Mobile network" and tap here on the slider for "Activate LTE" or for "Activate 3G".
Edge only: Internet options on Windows Phone
- Call up the settings and select the entry "Cellular + Sim".
- Tap on "SIM settings" and select "4G or 3G" under "Highest connection speed".
