Connect iPhone to LAN - Here's how
You can also connect your iPhone to the Internet using a LAN cable. In this practical tip we will show you how this works.
Instructions: Connect iPhone to LAN
Please note with this setup that this is more of a test environment. The Ethernet driver was apparently only accidentally installed in newer Apple models. Therefore, we can unfortunately not guarantee the functionality of the body. The following steps are at your own risk. The structure works theoretically for all devices with iOS 8.
- To set up, you need a Lightning to USB cable, a USB / Ethernet adapter and a USB hub with additional power supply. Unfortunately we do not know whether you can also use a USB / Ethernet adapter from another company.
- Then deactivate the mobile data and the WLAN of your device.
- First, plug in the Lightning / USB adapter.
- You must connect the adapter to the active USB hub. Also make sure that it has a power source.
- Now plug the Ethernet adapter into the USB hub.
- The last step is to plug the Ethernet cable into the USB / Ethernet adapter. So the structure should be iPhone -> Lightning adapter -> USB hub -> Ethernet adapter -> Ethernet cable.
- The iPhone should now be able to establish the connection. An error message is displayed, but you can ignore it.
