Reset iTunes to default settings - how it works
If iTunes no longer works or you have changed too many functions, you can reset the tool to the default settings. This will restore all of the original settings.
iTunes: Reset default settings
- First save your iTunes library. This is located in the folder "C: \ Users \ xxx \ Music \ iTunes \ iTunes Media". The entry "xxx" stands for your user name under Windows. Simply copy your music there to the desktop.
- You can then uninstall iTunes using the Control Panel. You can find detailed step-by-step instructions in the practical tip Uninstalling Windows Programs or in the video below.
- Under the path "C: \ Users \ xxx \ AppData \ Local \ Apple Computer \ iTunes", some iTunes settings may still remain on the PC. Simply delete the entire "iTunes" folder there.
- Then download the latest iTunes version from the CHIP download area and install the software. You can then move your music back to the correct folder.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to burn music to CD using iTunes.
