If your coffee tastes bitter more often, the first thing to do is to find the cause. One reason for the bitter coffee could be the type of coffee. Basically, the darker the coffee beans, the more bitter coffee tastes. For example, Robusta coffee contains significantly more bitter substances than Arabica coffee, which has a milder taste.
- The temperature of the water also affects the taste of coffee. Because the water temperature decisively decides which aroma substances are released. The ideal water temperature for coffee is around 95 degrees. Depending on the room temperature, wait about five to 10 minutes before brewing the coffee. In the first time, a thermometer helps. After a while you get a feel for when the water is at the perfect temperature.

- If you have the perfect type of coffee and the water temperature is right, the bitter taste of the coffee can be due to the type of grinding. The finer you set the grind, the more bitter substances are released when the coffee is brewed. If you grind the beans too coarsely, the coffee will not taste good either. You may need to experiment a little to get the perfect coffee taste.
- Pouring too little coffee powder into the filter can also cause the coffee to taste bitter. If there is a little more coffee powder in the filter, not so much bitter substances are released by the water. The powder adheres to each other more and is therefore not washed through by the water as extremely.
- Finally, the bitter taste of the coffee can also be due to a contaminated coffee machine. Research has shown that many coffee machines are very contaminated with germs. And that also applies if the machine is used every day. Cleaning the coffee machine therefore pays off twice.
- If you only occasionally have the bad luck that your coffee tastes too bitter, an old home remedy helps: with a pinch of salt you can neutralize the bitter taste. Sodium has the property of blocking aromas so that we no longer perceive them as extremely.
