Have links deleted at Bing
As with Google, you can also have Bing links deleted on the search engine. We show you how to do this in this guide.
Bing: Have links deleted according to the European Court of Justice
On May 13, 2014, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled that Google must delete personal search results if they violate personal rights. In the meantime Microsoft has also followed suit and also offers a deletion request for its search engine "Bing":
- Open the Microsoft website to request Bing search results to be blocked.
- The next step is to provide your full name and residence. This must be in Germany or another EU member state.
- The next step is to identify yourself: Upload a document (eg a picture of your passport) that shows your name and place of residence. You should make all other information unrecognizable.
- In step 2, you must rule out that you are a public figure or have a leadership or trust role. The reason for this is that Microsoft weighs up between the protection of privacy and the public interest in freedom of expression and free availability of information. Your link may not be deleted.
- Then you have to enter the URL, tick a reason for deletion and briefly explain it.
- Finally, confirm all information with your name (the "Sigantur").
Remove links at Bing: block or delete?
Microsoft only offers to block links at Bing. The links are not completely deleted. As the group announced, the deletion requests should be re-examined if the legal situation changes and links will be activated again if necessary.
