Minecraft: The Best Easter Eggs
The cult game "Minecraft" is full of Easter Eggs. Since only a few of them are very well known, we have put together the best Easter Eggs for you.
Easter Eggs on Holidays in Minecraft
So far there have been special Easter Eggs in Minecraft on some holidays. There will probably be regular new Easter Eggs for such events in the future. Some examples:
- On April 1, 2014, all of the players' skins were replaced with those of an ordinary villager. In addition, the sound packages have been changed. For example, the sounds of a stone or grass were exchanged with a voice that describes the sound. So players heard the word "stone" or "grass".
- Since 2012, skeletons, zombies and other opponents have occasionally worn pumpkin lanterns on Halloween. If you defeat the opponents, you may get the pumpkin lantern as an item.
- There is also an Easter egg for Christmas days. From December 24th to 26th, all chests in "Minecraft" will be given a new skin, which will make the chests look like nicely wrapped presents.
Special text Easter Eggs in the Minecraft menu
In the main menu of "Minecraft" the players are always greeted with various welcome texts, so-called splash texts. The developers repeatedly use these as a place for Easter eggs.
- If you delete the splash.txt file from the installation directory, the text "missingno" appears in the main menu. This is a direct allusion to the famous glitch from "Pokémon Blue & Red Edition", with which Pokémon and items could be multiplied, but at the same time could also cause game errors.
- A closer look at the splash.txt file reveals that the text "Déjà vu!" is included twice. Déjà vu is the feeling of having experienced a situation before.
- In line with the above-mentioned public holidays, special splash texts are also shown in Minecraft. On Halloween, the text "OOoooOOOoooo! Spooky!" welcomed.
Crazy Animal Easter Eggs in Minecraft
Since the full version 1.6 there are nameplates in "Minecraft". With the introduction of the name badges, some new Easter Eggs were added, which influence various animals and creatures in Minecraft.
- You can leave animals upside down. To do this, you must give the animal a name tag and give it the name "Dinnerbone" or "Grumm". To use a name tag, you need an anvil. The two names are allusions to the Bukkit team members of the same name.
- If you give a sheep the name "jeb_" with a name tag, the fur color of the sheep changes. This is why this Easter egg is also called the rainbow sheep. "Jeb" is one of the team members at the development studio Mojang.
- Another Easter Egg is activated when you give a rabbit a name tag called "Toast". The rabbit then gets a special fur pattern. This is a nod to the Reddit user's missing rabbit.
