Watch Netflix in UHD - how it works
If you want to watch Netflix not only in HD, but in UHD (4K), your technical devices must meet several requirements. We'll show you how it's done.
Stream Netflix in UHD: This is required
- TV: You need a UHD TV with the Netflix app running. However, please note that there are a few UHD models that, despite the Netflix app, do not play UHD content.
- Hardware: In addition to various TVs from various manufacturers, the Roku 4, the Nvidia Shield and the new Amazon Fire TV Netflix can also stream in UHD. Netflix still doesn't support UHD on PC.
- Subscription: You can only stream content in UHD with a monthly subscription for 11.99 euros. In addition, up to 4 people can use Netflix at the same time.
Watch Netflix in UHD: Not possible in every household
- Speed: To ensure that the streams run smoothly, Netflix recommends an internet connection with at least 25 megabits per second. This corresponds to a 25, 000 line in Germany. In practice, you should achieve a download rate of at least 3 MB per second in the speed test.
- Content: The content in UHD is still relatively limited at Netflix. As the most recent productions are recorded more and more frequently in 4K, content continues to follow. Simply enter UHD or 4K in the Netflix search.
