Connect Nintendo DS Lite to WiFi - you have to be aware of that
It only takes a few steps to connect your Nintendo DS Lite to the Internet via WiFi. Read here what you need to consider.
Configure the Wi-Fi connection of the Nintendo DS Lite automatically
Since the Nintendo DS Lite itself does not have a dedicated setup program for wireless connections, a game that can access the Internet is imperative:
- Look for the "Wi-Fi" item in the game menu and select it. Then open the "Nintendo WFC Setup".
- Select "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings" and one of three locations.
- Select "Find Access Point" to have Nintendo DS Lite automatically search for available access points. Then select the desired WLAN from the list.
- If the access point is protected with a WEP key, you must now enter it. Confirm with OK". Note that the Nintendo DS Lite only supports the WEP encryption protocol, not WPA or WPA2.
- Wait until the connection test has been successfully completed.
Configure the Wi-Fi connection of the DS Lite manually
If the automatic search was not successful, you can also specify the settings of the access point manually:
- In the menu of a game with Wi-Fi support, look for "Wi-Fi" and select it. Then open the "Nintendo WFC Setup".
- Select "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings" and one of three locations.
- Select "Manual setup". Enter the SSID, the WEP key and (if necessary) also the IP address, the subnet mask, the gateway and the primary and secondary DNS server. Note that the Nintendo DS Lite only supports the WEP encryption protocol, not WPA or WPA2.
- You can test the settings with the "Test connection" button. Complete the manual configuration with "Save settings".
