Notepad ++: Define your own shortcuts
In the Notepad ++ editor you can define your own shortcuts or exchange existing ones. This enables you to use the program even faster and more effectively. In this practical tip we will show you how.
Set and change shortcuts in the Notepad ++ code editor
- Start Notepad ++ on your computer.
- Click on "Settings" at the top of the tab and here on "Keyboard ...".
- A new window appears with the title "Shortcut mapper".
- The window is again divided into the "Main menu", "Macros", "Run commands", "Plugin commands" and "Scintilla commands" tabs.
- For example, if you want to set a shortcut for immediate printing, first go to the "Main menu".
- Here you scroll down a little to point 18 "Print now!".
- The shortcut can be edited using the "Modify" button.
- Use a check mark to define one or more keys from the selection [CTRL], [ALT], and / or [SHIFT] as well as another key.
- After you click "OK", the new shortcut is set. Existing key combinations can also be edited in this way.
If that's not enough for you, you can expand Notepad ++ with useful plugins.
