PlayStation 3: Retrofit 3D function
Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3-) is more than a console - now with 3D there is another function that you can retrofit yourself. We show you how to do this.
1. Retrofit PlayStation 3 to 3D - the preparation
First you have to update the operating software:
- To update the firmware, go to "Settings" in the menu and then to "System update".
- Now click on "Update via Internet".
- After downloading and installing the PS3 will automatically restart - done!
2. Make 3D settings on the PS3
- To do this, go back to the "Settings" submenu and there to the "Display settings" item.
- Now click on "Video Output Settings" and then select the connection type "HDMI".
- Now select "Automatic" as the setting method and confirm the following query with "Yes"
3. Customize PS3 screen for 3D
- Now set the size of your TV in inches - the default is 50 inches.
- With the directional pad on the left of the PS3 controller you can now enter the actual display size and then confirm the selection with the "x"
- Now the PlayStation 3 shows you your settings in an overview - if everything went well, the two points "720p (3D)" and "1.080p (3D)" should appear relatively far below. The PS3 is now set up for 3D films
