Save PS3 saves on USB stick - how it works
Before buying a new console, you can save your PS3 saves on a USB stick. We show you how to do this.
Save PS3 savegames to external storage
First you need a USB stick in the file format FAT-32. The saves usually take up little space. A 4 GB stick should definitely be enough.
- Connect the USB stick to your PS3 and switch to the "Game" tab.
- Select the "Save data utility" and search for the desired save game.
- Press the triangle button and select "Copy". If you want to save several saves, you can also select the item "Copy several".
- Confirm the copying process with the X key and wait until the PS3 has saved the savegames.
Import your own savegames from the USB stick
If you want to import your savegames again, connect the USB stick to the PS3.
- Your hard drive now appears as a separate folder in the storage data utility. Find the game you want and press the triangle button. With a click on "Copy" you can move the savegame back to your PS3.
By the way, you can also play files on the PS3 with the USB stick.
