PS4 - How to set up parental controls
This guide shows you how to set up parental controls or restrictions for your children on PlayStation 4.
Set up parental controls on PlayStation 4
There are several ways to set up and configure parental controls on your PlayStation 4. We present the options in the following points.
- To set up cross-account parental controls, open the "Parental controls" item on your PS4 in the settings. Select "Restrict Use of PS4 Features". Enter the parental control PIN, which is "0000" at the factory.
- Under "Applications" you can specify which content can be played on the PS4 for individual areas. The classification is from one to eleven and can be viewed in detail at playstation.net. In addition to games, the settings can also be configured for BluRays and the Internet browser.
- Alternatively, you can set up a sub-account, for example for children in your household. At the same time, you should protect the main account with a passcode so that only you can change the access rights.
- You can then set up parental controls for your children's sub-accounts. This can also be found in the settings under "Parental Control". Select the "Sub account management" item here. If there are no sub-accounts, you can set them up here.
- We have detailed instructions for setting up a child lock for sub-accounts in a separate practical tip.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to connect speakers to your PlayStation 4.
