Sky: Setting the receiver correctly - tips and tricks
With your new Sky Receiver you can receive private channels as well as free programs. But first you have to set it. You can find out what you need to consider and which tips will help you to operate your new receiver in our guide.
Setting the Sky Receiver: Favorite channels and basic settings
You can make many settings with your Sky receiver if you proceed correctly. Use these tips to set up the receiver exactly as you wish:
- Basic setting: The receiver carries out the installation automatically, you only have to select the antenna setting and details of the frequencies used. Follow the instructions provided, the individual steps are well explained. Then start the station search and the first basic settings are done.
- Favorites: You can easily arrange your personal favorite channels in your own order. To do this, select the 'Menu' button on your Sky remote control and navigate to the 'Settings' item. There you select the 'Favorites' sub-item and then compile your personal station list. You can define the first 100 programs.
- Parental control PIN: Sky has provided you with a parental control PIN, which you must enter as soon as you want to watch a program that is covered by youth protection. You cannot switch off the PIN, it can only be changed.
- Service menu: Navigate again via the menu button to the 'Settings' and select the 'Service menu'. In the service menu you can set your start channel for the receiver, change the screen format or change the recording settings if you have a Sky receiver with recording function. In the 'System' sub-item, you can set the energy-saving mode or determine when the receiver switches off automatically.
Sky receiver: set the sky home and control the television
- Sky-Home: You can reach 'Sky-Home' using the green button on your Sky remote control. It is a menu in which you can find your favorite channels, get tips on series and films or select Sky On Demand. You can access and change the Sky-Home settings with the 'C' key on your remote control.
- Tip: Do not only use your Sky remote control to operate your receiver, you can also use it to conveniently control the TV. The remote control is programmed in just a few steps and saves you having to constantly change the remote control.
