If you clean your dishwasher thoroughly from time to time, your dishes will also become really clean. You also extend the life of the household appliance. We will show you which home remedies are effective.
Cleaning the dishwasher - that's how it's done
- You should clean the drain strainer about twice a month. Leftover food collects here that spreads an unpleasant smell over time. It is enough to remove the strainer and rinse it with detergent and clear water.
- Incidentally, you can easily minimize this problem by rinsing off leftover food from plates and pots before you put the dishes in the dishwasher.
- You get the inside of the machine really clean if you use special dishwasher cleaner once a month. It is also sufficient if you use normal tabs, but leave the machine empty and run at high temperature.
- However, the rubber seals are not reached. Wipe it off with a damp cloth.
- The spray arms can also become blocked or calcified. However, they can be easily removed. Clean these parts with a little washing-up liquid, vinegar or citric acid.
- Greases are a problem for the dishwasher, as they are not properly solved at low temperatures. Low-temperature washing programs are good for the environment, but they damage the machine in the long run. Every fifth or tenth wash cycle should be a high temperature wash program.
