Find out Steam ID - Here's how it works
For some games or competitions, you first need to find out your Steam ID in order to participate. You can find out how this works and how you can use the Steam ID to track other players in this practical tip.
Find out your own Steam ID via the browser
The first way is directly through the browser. Since each user is assigned an individual profile number, you can also use this to find out your Steam ID.
- Log in to the Steam community with your browser.
- By clicking on your profile picture in the top right, you open your account.
- At the top of the browser you will find your profile URL in the address bar. Copy this to the clipboard.
- Now open the website "steamidconverter.com" in your browser.
- Enter your profile URL in the search field and then click "Convert".
- At the top you will find your Steam ID.
Read out Steam ID via log file
Steam creates a text document for each of your logins. If you do not want to log into the Steam community, for example because you have forgotten the password from the Steam Guard, you can also read out your Steam ID via the log file.
- Go to the directory "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Steam" on your computer.
- Change to the "logs" folder.
- Here you will find a text document called "connection_log.txt". Open this with the editor.
- Look for the entry "SetSteamID" there.
- Your Steam ID3 number is in brackets. Copy this to the clipboard.
- Open the website "steamidconverter.com" in your browser.
- After inserting the Steam ID3 number and clicking on "Convert", you can read off your correct Steam ID.
