Steam: Pay games without a credit card - so it'll work
If you want to buy games via Steam, you can also pay for them without a credit card. We show you which alternatives are available.
Steam: Pay for games without a credit card
Since many minors also use Steam, alternatives to payment by credit card are offered. Apart from the American services and the various credit card providers, the following options remain:
- PaysafeCard: The PaysafeCard is particularly suitable for paying anonymously on the Internet. You can buy them on the Internet as well as in many supermarkets and petrol stations. You pay an amount of 5 to 100 euros, receive a code and provide it when paying so that the amount is debited from your credit. This type of payment is particularly suitable for minors. Read exactly how the purchase works in this practical tip.
- PayPal: You pay much more securely with PayPal than with a credit card. In this case, PayPal serves as an intermediary between you and Steam. The service will debit the money and then transfer it to Steam, so that Steam does not even receive your account data. We explain exactly how PayPal works here.
- SofortÜberweisung: Steam will redirect you to the website in question via SofortÜberweisung.de. This creates a secure connection to your bank's online banking system, into which you have to log in. After logging in and entering a TAN, the service will take over the transfer for you. You do not have to enter your account details in this way.
Alternative: get a free credit card
Credit cards do not have to be expensive, but can be selected as a payment method almost anywhere. Many banks, such as Wüstenrot, also offer free credit cards for checking accounts. If you don't want to open a new account, you can get a Visa credit card with the Barclaycard even without changing your account - of course also free of charge.
We now show you how to reinstall Steam in the event of problems in this guide.
