Strato: Set up FTP server - how it works
If you have a domain with a hosting package from Strato, you can upload your website to the server via FTP. To do this, however, you first need to set up access.
Strato: Set up FTP server - how it works
To transfer data to the server, you need an FTP program such as Filezilla. However, you have to create the FTP access yourself at Strato beforehand.
- Log in to Strato with your access data and switch to your hosting package.
- In the left side menu you can access "Manage FTP access" via "Databases and Webspace". Click on "Create new" here to set up FTP access.
- In the following, you can freely choose a user name and use the selection to specify the domain to which the FTP access should belong. You also set the password for access here.
- If you click "Save", the new FTP access will be set up.
Strato: Use FTP access
After the FTP access has been set up at Strato, you must log in with the data via an FTP program on the server. In our example we use Filezilla.
- When you start Filezilla, you have to tell the program which server to connect to.
- In the "Server name" field, enter "ftp.strato.de" or alternatively "ftp.strato.com".
- For "Username" use the name you chose in step 3 of the first section, do the same with the password.
- Click on "Connect", the program establishes the connection to the Strato server and you can create directories and upload data there.
