Train Fever: The best tips
With the "Train Fever" set-up simulation, you can set up an entire transport network. We give you tips on how to best organize the transport of all residents and goods.
Train Fever: Choose the right city
In order for your city to grow, you need good transport links and enough goods. You should therefore make sure that your city has a fast connection to other cities.
- When choosing your city, please note that the distance to another city is not too great so that you can set up the fastest possible train connection. So choose a place that is as close as possible to other cities.
- Make sure there is a flat area between the two cities. Slopes slow down trains and thus the journey time. You should also remember that a Sim must reach its destination after 20 minutes.
Long-distance transport network built in Train Fever
If you want to set up long-distance traffic, you should optimize the structure so that a Sim crosses the route as quickly as possible. You make more money. Also note that you do not violate the "20 minute rule" for a Sim.
- Align the train stations of the two cities to be connected. As you play, don't forget to swap tracks for high-speed tracks once you've raised enough money. If you want to use electric locomotives, you should also add overhead lines.
- Keep the connecting line as flat as possible to lay the rails evenly. You can also use bridges and tunnels. However, please note that these structures are correspondingly more expensive. With terrain tools, you can make bridge building a little easier by lifting the floor - and you'll even save some money.
- If several trains run on one line, signals that help you regulate the trips often help you. Set the signals in front of switches in the corresponding direction of travel - the Sims will then do the rest.
Train Fever: Establish local transport lines
You should also set up a fast line with as few turns as possible in the local transport area so that your Sims get to their destination as quickly as possible. The land use overview can help you to get a better overview. You should also heed the following tips:
- If possible, you should set stops in every area so that your Sims have access to all apartment blocks, shopping centers and leisure activities. In densely populated residential areas, it is best to set several stops at shorter intervals. Make sure that the line also passes the train station.
- You can also use trams in Train Fever. First lay suitable tram tracks. However, you should only build the city trains if it is really worth it. A small village with winding streets is less suitable for trams, but a large city with many wide streets is.
- Also optimize the number of vehicles. If only a few buses and trams arrive at the stops, the Sims prefer to run. If the number of vehicles per line is too large, however, you can quickly make a minus through empty runs. So start playing around a bit and watch your Sims and expenses until you find the perfect number.
Train Fever: Organize freight lines
For your freight chain to run successfully with a time limit of 20 minutes, the freight lines must function properly. Therefore, make sure that your line is active and there is a need:
- For the factories to work properly, your demand line must be active. A steel rolling mill only produces goods if it is also supplied by the iron ore mine and coal mine. So make sure that you supply sufficient quantities of raw materials.
- Build the charging stations so that they are close to the industry, but preferably do not burden city traffic. Make sure that freight stations and loading points are connected to the road network and that vehicles are assigned. This way your workers can produce and ship goods without losing a lot of time.
- Freight routes are particularly efficient when you supply several cities with goods. So expand them regularly if you want to expand. Because this way you get a lot of money.
