Deactivate UAC under Windows 8 - how it works
Windows 8 User Account Control (UAC) is designed to keep malicious programs away from your PC. However, you can deactivate the function if you disturb the constant security queries. Here we show you how to do it.
How to disable UAC in Windows 8
The quickest way to disable user account control is to use the Run dialog:
- Press the key combination [Win] + [R] and enter the command "UserAccountControlSettings".
- If you confirm with "OK", a new window opens.
- There, slide the control all the way down. Apply the change with "OK".
Alternative: Deactivate UAC in the registry
If you cannot deactivate UAC using the user account control settings, you can also switch it off using the Windows registry:
- Press the key combination [Win] + [R] and enter the command "regedit".
- Then open the path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ System".
- In the right area of the registry editor click on the values "EnableLUA" and "ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin" and set the value to "0".
- Finally, close the registration and restart your PC.
