E-scooters are becoming increasingly popular. The number of sharing services with which you can rent the scooters is also increasing. The company Jump now offers e-scooters and e-bikes in Germany. But what does the service cost?
What is Uber Jump?
Jump is a subsidiary of Uber. This took over the service provider in April 2018.
- Jump has been in the Micro Mobility segment since 2010. Initially, the company only rented electric bicycles, but now e-scooters are also available for rent.
- In Germany, however, the service has only just started and is therefore not yet widely used.
- It wasn't until May 2019 that Jump started with 1000 e-bikes in Berlin and 200 bikes in Munich. The service has only been offering e-scooters since September of this year.
- The service with the e-scooters is initially only available in eight Berlin boroughs. However, other cities are to follow.
What does the service offer and what does it cost?
- Both e-scooters and e-bikes can be borrowed via Jump.
- Renting is very easy via the app. All you have to do is scan the QR code on the respective device. You can also use the app to find the nearest e-scooter or e-bike near you.
- A helmet is recommended for use. You must also be at least 18 years old to use the service.
- The prices for renting e-bikes and e-scooters vary by city. In Berlin, for example, you pay one euro to reserve an e-scooter or an electric bike and then 15 cents per minute of use. In Munich, on the other hand, you pay 20 cents per minute. The reservation fee of one euro remains the same here.
- On the website you can find out the prices for your city.
