On Ubuntu it is possible to create your own shortcuts. You can find out how to do this in this practical tip.
Create shortcuts on Ubuntu
To set your own shortcuts, you need to do the following:
- First open a terminal with [CTRL] + [ALT] + [T] and enter "unity-control-center".
- Then click on "Keyboard" and select the "Keyboard shortcuts" tab.
- With a click on the "+" you can now create your own shortcuts.
Creating shortcuts on Ubuntu: Example
In the following example we show you how a shortcut can look like on Ubuntu:
- First click on the "+" to define a shortcut.
- Under "Name" you can define an individual name for your key combination. In this example we choose "Control Center".
- In the "Command" field you can now store any console command that is to be executed with your key combination. In this case we choose "unity-control-center".
- Now click on "Apply" to save the combination.
- You then have to click on the "Deactivated" field. Now you can define your individual key combination for the previously entered command.
- In our case, this can be, for example, [CTRL] + [ALT] + [C].
- From now on you can open the Control Center immediately with the key combination mentioned above.
