Hide a file on Windows 8
To hide a file, you need to change its properties:
- Right click on a file and open its "Properties".
- Under the "General" tab you will find two attributes at the bottom: "Read-only" and "Hidden".
- To hide a file in folders - that is, to hide it - check the "Hidden" option.

If you have hidden files, you can set in the view options whether Windows 8 should show or hide them.
- Open any folder or open Explorer with the key combination Windows + E.
- Click on "View" in the top menu bar. In the second position from the right you will find a button for "showing / hiding" elements.
- The bottom item in the "Show / Hide" menu determines whether hidden files are displayed. Check this option to show hidden files or uncheck if you want to hide hidden files.
