Delete WhatsApp voice messages on Android
Deleting voice messages from WhatsApp turns out to be a bit cumbersome on Android. We'll show you how you can still delete voice messages from your smartphone.
Delete the voice messages via the file manager app
With a file manager app, you can delete WhatsApp voice messages directly from your smartphone. Here as an example with the "ASTRO File Manager with Clouds".
- Open the "ASTRO File Manager with Clouds" on your smartphone.
- Then select the "sdcard" subitem under the "Places" tab.
- Navigate to the "WhatsApp" folder.
- In the following subfolder "Media" you will find the folder "WhatsApp Voice Notes".
- To delete, hold your finger briefly on the file, the multiple selection is activated. Now delete individual voice messages or the entire folder.
- If you are not sure which voice message you want to delete or keep, tap the file and select a play program to listen to it again.
Deleting the voice messages using a Windows PC
You can also delete the WhatsApp voice messages with your computer without a smartphone app.
- Connect your Android smartphone to your computer.
- In Windows Explorer, navigate to your smartphone (or the SD card) and there to the "WhatsApp" folder.
- In the following subfolder, click on "Media".
- Continue to click on the "WhatsApp Voice Notes" folder.
- Now delete the corresponding voice messages as you wish. Individual voice messages are identified by the date in the folders. It is also possible to delete an entire folder.
