Windows 10: search does not work - what to do?
If the search does not work on the Windows 10 operating system, various causes can be responsible. In this practical tip, we will tell you what you can do about it.
Windows 10 search doesn't work - you can do that
- Open the start menu and click on "Windows PowerShell" and under "Tasks" on "Start as administrator".
- Enter the following command and confirm with [Enter]: Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$ ($ _. InstallLocation) \ AppXManifest.xml”}
- This will set up the standard apps for your operating system again.
- Wait a few minutes, then restart the PC and try the search function again.
- If the search still does not work, press [Windows] + [R] and enter "services.msc". Confirm again with [Enter].
- Look for "Windows Search" in the list and right click on it. Choose "Properties".
- Make sure that the "Startup Type" is set to "Automatic" for the search to work.
