If you need your own IP address, find it in Windows 7 with a simple command. We'll show you how it's done.
Find out your own IP address in the network under Windows 7
If you want to find out the IP address that the router automatically assigned to you, proceed as follows:
- Click "Start" and look for "Run".
- Enter the command "cmd" in the command line. Then the console opens.
- Enter the command "ipconfig" in the console (without quotes). A list appears with all connections that your computer has. Search for the name of your router here (for example "fritz.box").
- Under "IPv4 address" you will find the IP address at which your computer can be reached in the network.
- If you are not sure which IP address is the right one, pay attention to the format of the address - usually in the manner of 192.168.xx.
