Windows: Install Tor software

With Tor you surf the internet anonymously. We'll show you how to install the software on Windows.

First, download the Tor browser package from us in the download area.
Then open the EXE file and click through the installation program. If you want, you can change the storage location for Tor here.
When the installation is complete, Tor starts automatically. After a short time, a small window appears. Click the "Connect" button here.
After waiting again, the TorBrowser starts. This is a slightly customized version of Firefox.
Every website that you open in the TorBrowser is selected anonymously. No further settings are necessary.

Tips for Tor and the Tor browser

Use programs with Tor: In order to use other programs such as jDownloader via the Tor network, you need some data. You have to insert these in the individual (proxy) settings. Socks proxy: Yes, as host IP: 127.0.0.1 and as port: 9050.
Create shortcut: So that you don't have to constantly open the Tor folder, you will find a shortcut to the TorBrowser on the desktop. If you wish, you can also drag these to the taskbar or the start menu.
Tor from USB stick: So that you can surf anonymously on other computers, you can also copy the Tor folder to a USB stick. The TorBrowser can also be started easily from there.
